Review - O’Neill’s **
New review now online, here’s the summary:
Part of the infamous Irish Pub chain O’Neill’s, their York outlet is a pretty standard boozer slash sports bar. It’s nicely presented enough with a long thin layout with seating by the entrance and a long bar at the back, all matching nicely to the Victorian styling of the old building. They have a small courtyard area at the rear too, but it’s nothing that’ll impress. The main downfall of O’Neill’s in our opinion is the terribly slow and ineffective bar service, while only stocking a quite limited range of standard commercial Irish beers at pretty high prices. Its okay if you’re into your sport as well, with several big screens, but this can mean it gets quite packed and rowdy with pretty unfavourable clientele. The narrow layout also means access is pretty tough and the toilets are situated in the basement. They do have plenty of entertainment though, with live music as well as the sport, so if that’s the sort of thing you’re after it may be worth waiting half an hour to get served.
